Mail is vital to the survival of business today, in action to this 1stDomains have released to the world their backup mail servers. For a small cost you can have the peice of mind that your mail is protected and that you will recieve it should your mail servers go down.
All backup mail held on 1stdomains.co.uk is passed through a series of check to help to ensure that legitimate e-mail is passing through it. The mail server checks mail inbound to us when your primary mail server is down and stores e-mail from addresses not on black lists and obvious spam messages. Once it has completed these checks the backup mail server keeps your message for 5 days in its queue. If your mail server comes back within 5 days we send you your e-mail with a smile.
Simply, (and for IT that normally means hard, but it really is simple) with one change to your DNS and a change on our end to accept mail for your domain, we can start accepting and backing up your mail server in minutes. Dependant on how long the internet takes to update DNS records. Normally not more than 24 hours. The MX record we would add to make this active is:

Please note that this would not take affect and would reject mail for you until we make the necessary changes.
MX - MX Records are used to tell servers on the internet where your Mail eXchangers are. These records are mail servers, (Exchange, PostFix, Qmail).

For this service to be implemented through your domain all we require is the IP address where you collect your mail from (Public not private IP) and for you to make a modification to your MX records to add us in at the end (normally a priority of 50). Once we have these details we take a small payment dependant on the ammount of mailboxes at your end.
